THE GREAT ELF QUEST,
All had not been right in Middle Earth for some time.
The crops had failed (always a worrying sign) And mice had been particularly prolific (a sure sign) but the thing that
set everyone talking, and resulted in the Great Elf Council gathering around the fire in the Great Hall with a jug of Mead
was the morning that Filibert Green from Tookbank went out to the fields to gather turnips and found not turnips - but Grundin
Woodenarrow (a dularvin fellow of indeterminate parentage) camped by the hollow determined to wait until his master Tror Oakenarm
returned from the East with precious and sacred 'Soil of the Ancients' that he had gone to retrieve after it was stolen in
the night by Ghazhur the Destroyer . . .
The council met long into the night, calling for advice from the four corners of the Shire (as well as more mead). After
much deliberation, it was discovered that all the four precious elements, that keep all creatures well and in balance, had
indeed been taken - not just the sacred soil from the 'Graveyard of the Ancients' and guarded by the Dwarves, but the 'breath
of air 'from the Elves, the 'light of fire ' from the Orcs and the most worrying of all - the 'water of life ' from the hobbits.
Things were crook in Tallarook!
Scouts were sent to the four regions to locate these precious and life preserving elements. Their news, when it came was
cause for joyous celebration, for, after being stolen by minions of the evil Nazrarz the Bloodyhanded, the four elements of
life had been reclaimed after a prolonged and bloody battle and was now in the safekeeping of Clan Elders in each of the four
regions.. but they could not stay there -for balance to prevail they must be returned to their rightful time honoured guardians,,,,,,
Again the Great Elf Council met . More deliberations and much more Mead was called for- much talking and shouting emanated
from the Great Hall that nightat last, just as the early dawn streaked across the distant horizon -a plume of white smoke
drifted from the chimneythey had made a decision! (and they were cold.)
The Great Elf Council sent out the call for brave young elves to come forth and join the quest!
